What would a Barack Obama presidency mean for Iraq?
As of right now, October 30, 2008 and 11:29 AM, we are winning in Iraq. The problem becomes the fact that if Obama is elected, he says that he wants to pull the troops out as soon as possible. I know that the Iraqis want us out but they don’t want us out too soon because the know that if we leave too soon that all of the progress that has been made would go down the drain.
Iraq is definitely a lynchpin in the war on terror. Yes we need to go into Afghanistan and redo the job that has went the other way in the last few months. We should not do this until we finish the job in Iraq.
Iraq is the more important thing. The reason is that of the fact that it is the neighbor of Iran. If we leave too soon, Iran will end up making Iraq another satellite state that will be another proxy for terror. Terrorists will stream in and be able to attack Israel from another angle.
Wh leave too soon if we have the ability to make Iraq a beacon for freedom amongst the arab countries int the middle east?
Essentially, that is what Obama and the democrats want to do.
After the first gulf war, when we left too soon, we lost the favor of the Iraqi people. Why would we want that happening again? I think that the majority of the American people don’t want to see that happening. I will say it like this, there are a lot of sports fans and they take it hard when their teams lose. The military is the ultimate example of this fact. The American people saw what happened to the Vietnam veterans and said "no more." There may be some that were against the war, but now that we are so close to winning, they don’t want to lose it.
Obama also wants to weaken the military to such and extent that if we go back into Afghanistan, there will be no shot that we win that battle.
Why give up when we are so close to the Iraqi goal line. Leaving Iraq too soon is like not trying w winning field goal when it would be a virtual chip shot.
