Barak Obama is making excuses. His campaign is hemming and hawing about doing town hall meetings with John McCain. What is he afraid of? I think that fhe fears that Jonk might run reings around him and show how unprepared Obama is for the office of the President.
It is so obviou that Obama needs a teleprompter for him to be able to string complete thoughts together. With out that aforementioned machine, it is hard for him to get his thoughts together into a cogent string of ideas. This is bad because if he happen to win the election, he is not going to always have a teleprompter, and will have to speak off the cuff. If the democrats think that George Bush made some faux-pas, just wait and see what happens with Obama.
John McCain, on the other hand is comfortable in this type of setting. No matter what one might think of him, he comes off as affable and knowlegeable. Sure, he may, from time to time trip over his own tongue in trying to find the right words, but that is to be expected when one has so many thoughts that occur, in his head, on a particular subject, at any given time.
If Obama does nat accept McCain's invatations to these meetings, it will show that the democrats are less and less confident that he can win the election.
I wll end on this, I would love to see if McCain is telling the truth about letting other candidates into his town hall meetings. If his invitation is extended to let's say Bob Barr and Barr accepts, then that will be a fun debate/ town hall meeting.
